Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets the tone. Check out some of these healthy breakfasts to lose weight to start your day off right! It’s important to balance macronutrients for good health.
Eating for weight loss
In order to lose weight, you need to burn calories. So you need your body to be a fat and calorie-burning machine. You can rev up your metabolism with exercise for sure, but if you don’t eat right, nothing will change overall. You can tone it up, but getting rid of stubborn fat takes a little finesse. First is portion control. Our portions nowadays are tremendous and far too much for good health. But the balance of what you eat is important too. You need to make sure you start each day with some protein and some carbs. You need a little fat to round it out too. This will help your body become a fat-burning machine. You can make it an important part of your morning self care routine.
Why do we need protein for breakfast
Protein for breakfast helps you succeed by fighting cravings, keeping you full longer, and giving you the energy to move. If you have a carb-based breakfast, you won’t be able to sustain the energy you get from the carbs. Carbohydrates give you a burst of energy, but if you eat them alone, it doesn’t last. You’ll have a high and then a big dip in energy and that’s not productive for your day. But the balance keeps your energy and blood sugar level and your metabolism running at top performance so you can burn the calories you take in and lose weight if that’s what your body needs. And there are diet changes that help you have more energy.

Oatmeal is great healthy breakfast food. It’s full of fiber and low in calories. It helps with appetite control as well. It also lowers blood sugar. You can have a bowl of oatmeal with an egg or just stir in some nut butter or yogurt to add a little more protein. Then top with fruit or berries. A wonderful breakfast. Our favorite is 1/2 cup oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of nut butter, and a cup of berries. This is a regular favorite breakfast at our house. You can even flavor oatmeal yourself for different experiences. You can also make oatmeal balls like these for a nutritious breakfast and they can be prepped ahead so they are already ready!
Nuts and nut butter can be added to breakfast in other ways as well. Nuts are full of protein but they also have wonderful health benefits as well. You can spread nut butter on a piece of whole grain toast or eat it on apple slices. Add a spoon full or two of nuts to your smoothie bowl or yogurt bowl for a healthy breakfast. They can be enjoyed on the go easily as well. They make a great snack. Also, meal prep planning helps a lot.
