The importance of habits is something we often overlook, we can focus on the wrong things. But learning how to change your mindset can be a game-changer. It enables you to keep your focus on what is good and what you focus on you get more of. Having a positive mindset changes how you perceive everything.
Mental wellness is the foundation for all other wellness. If you can’t keep your mind under control, your life will be out of control. And it’s a hard thing to do. But the Bible tells us to take every thought captive. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) So we were created to keep control of our thought life.
3 Ways To Make Positive Changes in Your Mindset
You may be hearing a lot about mindset work and wondering what it’s all about. Your mindset is your outlook on life. It determines whether you see the glass half empty or half full. It helps you to create the life you desire or keeps you stuck in a life you hate.
If you’ve been trying to attain success and keep getting thrown off course, maybe it has to do with your mindset. Ever feel like some people keep winning at life while others keep trying and failing? I always felt like that. The truth is your mindset is usually what really makes the difference. Because negative thinking can control you completely if you let it.
Learning how to manage your thought patterns is what is going to keep you on the move when things fail to go as planned. Here are 3 ways to improve your mindset to start making positive changes in your life. You can make it an important part of your morning self care routine.
Change your words, change your mindset
- Start the day out with a purposeful focus on what is going right and what you have control over. Your day’s outcome is normally determined in the first few morning hours. If you start checking your Instagram feed and notifications when you get out of bed, you will start to drift into the unknown. You’re allowing the outside world to set the pace of your day instead of controlling your own path. Instead, front load your morning with an activity that will give you a positive mental focus. A brief meditation, brainstorming, or workout session will help in keeping you right on track.
- Control what you put in your thoughts. Are you filling your mind with positive and uplifting messages or following celebrity gossip and keeping track of your ex? You will never really understand how much of an impact this can have on your reality until begin to change your outlook. Learn to be proactive and disciplined about the things that you allow to go through your mind. We cannot make changes to our DNA but we can opt to be more and more vigilant about what sort of information we choose to consume. Changing a thought pattern is a choice and it takes practice. Listen to productive podcasts on your daily commute. Watch Youtube videos that will help you to win in life. Read more personal or career development books.
- Practice gratitude! Recall what you are grateful for at the end of each day. Say thank you out loud when good things happen. Focus on the positive things that life has to offer as opposed to its negatives. Now, this is not always easy but keep trying. Even when something doesn’t go your way, try to find the lesson and be grateful for it. Have in mind that it is you who’s going to determine your reality. As such be grateful for that opportunity.
Mastering your mindset
Mastering your mindset and learning to change it takes a lot of dedication. Our thought life and patterns can get out of control easily. It’s a lifelong journey. Choose every day to be happy and more grateful and life will have no choice but to serve up more things for you to be happy and grateful for.
My family is working on a more positive focus. We are tired of letting the circumstances of the world dictate our happiness and level of joy. So we have to change our mindset to take the reigns of our own mental health.
Philippians 4:8-9 The Message 8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
